The ASEAN Para Games is a biennial sporting event for the disabled. It is a top-level sports event equivalent to the SEA Games. The first ever ASEAN Para Games which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2001 attracted a participation of more than 760 disabled athletes and officials from the 10 ASEAN countries. The second ASEAN Para Games was held in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2003.

History_Old Photo 1 The ASEAN Para Games is held after every SEA Games. The games are participated by the members of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The ASEAN Para Games is under the regulation of the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF). The games are hosted by the same country where the SEA Games takes place.

The 3rd ASEAN Para Games took place from 12 to 25 December 2005 in Manila, Philippines, with participation from 11 countries. Thirty outstanding disabled athletes represented Singapore in 4 sports then – athletics, wheelchair tennis, swimming and sailing. Sailing made its debut as a demonstration sports.

In 2003, Singapore returned with 19 medals in total - 10 gold, 8 silver and 1 bronze. In 2005, Singapore attained 14 gold medals, 10 silver and 9 bronze medals.
