Interview with Jeralyn Tan-Singapore's Boccia Silver Medalist
| 23 January 2008, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand Jeralyn Tan did Singapore proud by winning the Silver Medal in the Individual event (BC2) of the Boccia Competition. Along with the Bronze Medal won by Oh Boon Keng, these account for the first ASEAN Para Games medals that Singapore has ever won. We had the opportunity to speak to the 18 year old with the infectious smile just after her medal winning performance. Q: Hello Jeralyn, how long have you been playing Boccia? Jeralyn: Hello, I started playing Boccia about five years ago. Q: How did you get to know of this sport? Jeralyn: My teacher introduced Boccia to me. Q: How often do you train? Jeralyn: I train three times a week. Q: This is the first time that Singapore has reached the final of any event in Boccia. Did you feel any pressure before the match and what was going through your mind during it? Jeralyn: I didn't really feel much pressure before and I just concentrated on getting points and the medal during the match. Q: How do you feel about your performance today? Jeralyn: I feel satisfied and happy with my performance. Q: Finally, what are your targets for the next ASEAN Para Games? Jeralyn: I hope to reach the finals again and get a medal for Singapore. |
