Onward to Glory: Mission - ASEAN Para Games!

It was a quiet Thursday morning, not unlike any other morning in Singapore. While most Singaporeans were soundly asleep in the comfort of their beds, 57 elite athletes and 35 officials were making their way to Changi Airport, en route to Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, in pursuit of ASEAN Para Games glory.

Guest of Honour Mr Teo Ser Luck, Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports was on hand to lend his support to the Singapore contingent during the official send-off ceremony that was held at Changi Airport Terminal 2 on 17th January 2008. Mr Teo emphasized that every athlete in the contingent was already a winner, regardless of winning or losing at the games.

Led by Mr Henry Tan, Chef De Mission of the 4th ASEAN Para Games, Team Singapore will be competing with the best of Southeast Asia in a total of eight sports including swimming, wheelchair basketball and boccia. This is the largest contingent that Singapore has ever sent to the ASEAN Para Games.

Competition will take place from 20th to 26th January 2008.
